About PWA Water Quality Resources Projects News Contact Us

PrairieLand Watershed Alliance is headquartered in Johnson County, Iowa. Currently our membership includes citizens and organizations stretching from Omaha ,NE to Madison WI.

PWA will: Advocate, Educate and Demonstrate for the improvement of surface water quality.
-----
we will achieve this by participating in monthly stakeholder meetings,
-----
continued participation in regional surface water quality monitoring projects,
-----
providing technical assistance in establishing urban rain garden sites,
-----
and new projects and partnerships in 2006.....

To protect and improve the environment, our Rural areas need:
-----
greater emphasis on buffers, wetlands, and nutrient management.
-----
Protection and enhancement of our remaining native plant and animal communities.
-----
New biomass products and markets that make soil & water conservation a result of economic demand.
And our Urban areas need:
-----
Urban planning and zoning that drives low impact development.
-----
Installation of Best Management Practices to improve storm water quality.
-----
support networks that encourage and reward sustainable agricultural practices.
